How can Moldova reintegrate Transnistria: a discussion at the Forum in Karpacz

Expert of the East European Council Ernest Vardanyan took part in one of the discussion panels of the XXXII Eastern European Forum on the topic of “Transnistrian settlement”. As part of the speech, a member of our team presented the author’s research of the think tank and presented his own vision of the development of the situation in Moldova.
Currently, the country’s leadership is not ready for radical actions in relation to Transnistria, so the only side interested in destabilization in the region is the Russian Federation.
In the case of a convincing victory for Ukraine and the liberation of the temporarily occupied southern territories, along with the destruction of the corridor to Crimea and the weakening of Russian military capabilities in the Black Sea, Moldova will have a historic chance to intensify its own actions and regain control over “Transnistria”.

Similar views seem to be relevant to the former Minister of Reintegration of Transnistria, Vladyslav Kulminsky, who also took part in the event.
Former deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Ilya Ponomarev showed that he prefers more radical steps on the part of Chisinau, which could lead to the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of the country.
The East European Council is interested in supporting high-level expert discussions and will continue to inform about new constructive initiatives.
