On 26th of July in cooperation with New Eastern Europe, East European Council organized event “Transnistria” in the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war: prospects for regional reintegration and security guarantees for Moldova”.

 

During this event were discussed very important issues:

  1. contemporary situation in the Republic of Moldova and possible Russian threats to the political, economic and security stability in the state;
  2. approaches of the Government and key partners of Moldova to the settlement of the “Transnistrian” issue, prospects for new initiatives and progressive solutions;
  3. the role and place of Ukraine in guaranteeing security in the region and deterring Russian aggression, how NATO an EU can develop cooperation with Ukraine and Moldova.

We managed to unite in useful discussion representative of both sides:

  • Eugen Cara, deputy Head of Bureau for Reintegration Policy, Republic of Moldova Government;
  • Ivan Turcan, The head of informational and analytical department of Government, Republic of Moldova;
  • Adrian Cheptonar, Member of Parliament, Foreign Policy Committee, Republic of Moldova;
  • Fedir Venislavskiy, Representative of the President in Verkhovna Rada, member of security committee, Ukraine
  • Gaik Vartanean. Member of Parliament. Republic of Moldova.

Also, our expert Ernest Vardanean presented results of our research on “Transnistria” issue. Together with New Eastern Europe we will publish our report in September.
