State Deputy Oleg Dunda initiated declaration which will be soon voted in Ukrainian Parliament: clear signal to Polish Partners about strategic value of relations between countries
“Ukraine and the Ukrainian people greatly appreciate the significant contribution of the Republic of Poland to the full-scale Russian invasion and express deep and sincere gratitude to the Polish Parliament, whose term ends in the fall of 2023, for its clear and active position in support of Ukraine,” the draft document tells.
The author of the resolution, deputy of the Servant of the People party, Oleh Dunda, explained to PAP on Thursday that it was created in connection with the expiry of the terms of office of the Sejm and Senate before the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 15.
“This term of office of the Polish Parliament is coming to an end, and over the last two years, which began on February 24, 2022, the Sejm and the Senate have really extended their helping hands and done a lot to support Ukraine, including promoting Ukraine’s membership in NATO” – he said.
The Ukrainian parliament is arguing that, among other things, the help of Polish partners during the war with Russia is invaluable. “It was the Polish parliament that was one of the first to unanimously adopt a resolution on support for Ukraine, calling for punishment of Russian criminals in international courts for their war crimes and genocide. Poland and Poles have been supporting Ukrainians’ threats for freedom and independence since the first Russian times,” it was emphasized.
In frames of problematic relations between countries and some wrong decision of parliaments from both sides – initiative of state deputy is a constructive signal that is highly estimated by Polish Partners.
